Crimps, Findings & More for SilverSilk

Silversilk is a very versatile, super fun, fetchingly fresh, knitted jewelry revolution! Simply put, SilverSilk is a knitted wire jewelry chain, but like no other jewelry chain out there in the craft market. You can string large-hole beads on it, sew through it, wire-wrap it, glue it, braid it, put it in resin or just leave it as a draped jewelry chain. And best of all, you can do it yourself. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a jewelry-creating newbie, you'll love how easy it is to work with SilverSilk. This guide will give you some basic facts about our Custom Findings.

SilverSilk & More custom findings boast unmatched quality, achieved through applying five layers of metal plating, ensuring exceptional end caps and components.

Each finding has five high-quality metal platings over a custom-cast brass base and is stamped with the SilverSilk logo, then polished to perfection. We carry special end caps for every line of SilverSilk, so there’s no guesswork for you to figure out how to finish the ends—We’ve got you covered!

SilverSilk End Caps

Single-strand end caps (4.3mm wide by 12mm long with a single 3mm diameter attached loop)
Double-strand end caps (7mm wide by 12mm long with a single 3mm diameter attached loop)
Triple-strand end caps (12mm wide by 12mm long with a single 3mm diameter attached loop)

Use these end caps to professionally finish the ends of SilverSilk Capture, Pearlesque, or Knitted Leather Chain. The small loop at the top allows you to attach either a clasp or additional beads and baubles to your liking. To crimp the end cap over the chain, simply place the chain inside the end cap channel, and use wide nose pliers, with a protective coating to prevent scratches or marring, to press the end cap closed. You’ll know it’s closed if you take a look at the seam of the crimp and make sure there’s not a gap. Also, it’s a good idea to tug on the chain to make sure it’s not going to fall out of the crimp.

SilverSilk Terminators

4mm Terminators (3mm wide by 4mm long with no attached loop)
9mm Terminators (3mm wide by 9mm long with no attached loop)

Use these terminators to finish the ends of SilverSilk Capture, Pearlesque, or Knitted Leather Chain. The smooth finish at the top makes it easy to make lariats, bolos, or tassel components by ensuring a polished end to the chain. Simply place the chain inside the terminator channel, and use wide nose pliers, with a protective coating to prevent scratches or marring, to crimp the end cap closed. If the end cap has too narrow of a channel for the chain to be inserted in, you can use your chain nose pliers to gently pry open the end cap by a millimeter or so to help fit the chain better.

Flat Mesh Crimps

Flat Mesh Crimps (5mm wide by 5mm long with a single 3mm diameter attached loop)

Use these crimps to professionally finish the ends of SilverSilk Flat Mesh. To crimp, simply place the chain inside the crimp channel, and use wide nose pliers - with a protective coating to prevent scratches or marring - to crimp the end cap. Attach jump rings, bead baubles, chains, or a clasp to the open loop.

6mm Cord Caps

6mm Cord Cap (7mm wide by 7mm long with a single 2mm diameter attached loop)

Use these cord caps to secure the ends of Hollow Mesh that is filled with 3-4mm leather cord. Simply apply a small drop of an industrial glue to the inside of the cap and place your cord inside. Wait about one day for the adhesive to cure, then you can wear your design.

SilverSilk 6mm Hollow Mesh Cord Ends

6mm Hollow Mesh Cord Ends (9mm wide by 9mm long)

Use these cord ends to secure the ends of Hollow Mesh. Simply string 3-4mm beads onto beading wire or craft wire, then string Hollow Mesh over the beads and gently pinch the ends of the chain over the last bead on each end. Finally, string one cord end on each end and fit it over the Hollow Mesh for a seamless finish in your design.
