SilverSilk Hollow Mesh is a revolutionary knitted wire jewelry chain. It’s made by knitting wire as thin as human hair into a tubular wire mesh. The result is a 5mm hollow knitted wire tube that can be filled with leather cord, chain, craft wire, seed beads, or virtually any material up to 5mm found in your beading drawer. The possibilities are endless! The 32-gauge, 99.9% copper wire is permanently enameled and is tarnish-resistant for long-lasting jewelry. Plus, the unique elasticity of the knit lends a luxurious free-flowing feel to the jewelry chain. Hollow Mesh may be expanded by a millimeter or two using a dowel that’s slightly larger than the mesh. Conversely, you can make the mesh smaller by drawing it through an acrylic draw plate, so that the color doesn’t scratch off.
A custom-made machine with six tiny latch-hook needles stitches the wire into a perfectly consistent, durable chain that you can cut to any length.
